I don't think I have ever met a couple who have laughed and enjoyed their wedding day so much. Rob & Laura were such a lovely friendly couple, you can't help but warm to them as soon as you meet them.
Their day started with Laura getting ready in their beautiful home. The morning was relxed and Laura was ready in plenty of time to enjoy a glass of champers (or two!) before she left. The wedding took place on a private farm just down the road from where they lived. The venue doesn't hold very many weddings so they were overjoyed to have found it and been allowed to get married there.
The ceremony took place in a field, with the aisle made up of bales of straw with cushions on for the guests, and bales at the front covered in beautiful lavender created the focal point for the couple to say their vows. I have never seen a bride so excited as she walked down the aisle - it was such a joy to watch - and photograph!
The reception took place in a marquee decorated in beautiful rustic style. Vintage chandeliers and bunting decorated the ceiling, and milk yurns and vases were filled with wild flowers. It was beautiful! And rather than have one traditional wedding cake, the couple invited their guests to each bake a cake for a 'Great British Bake Off' style competition.
After a joint Mr & Mrs speech which had the room in fits of laughter, the wedding party enjoyed a English/Australian themed BBQ. The couple met whilst both living and working in Australia, so they were keen to add an Australian element to the day.
This wedding was the perfect example of a rustic English wedding. The day was filled with love and laughter, and is a reminder to me of why I love my job so much.
Rob & Laura were very kind to say some lovely words about choosing me as their wedding photographer:
"We were absolutely thrilled with Rebecca’s photographs, she captured the love and laughter. What was equally important beyond the photographs was how comfortable Rebecca made us feel with the whole process. She met us a couple of months before the wedding and talked us through everything. I explained that my husband hates having his photograph taken and was apprehensive about it, Rebecca did a brilliant job at putting us at ease and making it fun.
Beyond the photos themselves, I also appreciated all of Rebecca’s advice about timings and how to tackle group photos to minimise time away from family and friends on the day.
When asked about the moment they saw their wedding photos for the first time they said:
We were both blown away. I hardly remember seeing her on the day as she was so discreet and yet when I saw the photographs she’d clearly been dashing around as she’d photographed everyone and everything. The pre wedding shots of my family and I had me in tears and during the ceremony Rebecca had caught all of the laughter and tears. Her dance floor photos on the other hand had us in fits of giggles!
Rob & Laura's day was an absolute pleasure to photograph, and I want to thank them for making me feel so welcome - and for making my job so easy and enjoyable!
