Beautiful Bride? Check. Stunning horse? Check. Fantastic Flowers? Check. Amazing setting on the warmest of late September days?! Double check! All the elements of yet another fantastic styled shoot. The weather was unbelievable for the last weekend in September – the unseasonably mild day meant less goose pimples to edit out in the final photos!

Wedding photography is no longer traditional and staged, and more and more brides & grooms are putting their personality into their wedding day. These shoots are great for enabling people within the wedding industry to show what they are capable of outside the traditional norms, and show just how creative you can be on your wedding day.

I love arranging styled shoots. It means you can completely put your vision into practice. I am currently arranging my own wedding (6 months! Eeek!) and it is so easy to get carried away with lots of amazing ideas. I have gone for a very romantic rustic theme on my wedding day (I will blog about this after the event – I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise for those attending!) but if I could go crazy, a beach wedding would definitely be on my list of ‘weddings to do’…..(maybe I can convince my hubby to be to have a vow renewal every 5 years so I can put all of my ideas into practice…….) And if I had my own horse right now, they would definitely be a VIP guest. BUT….for now (sob) I can only have one wedding, so I have to live out my fantasies and ideas through my photography.

I love shooting in the natural outdoors, the colours and the textures are just the best to shoot with. We shot this styled shoot in Kent. They are so many amazing locations in Kent to get married, many with that natural rustic feel.

Definitely think outside the box when planning your day. Look at all the beauty around you and make the most of every last little part of it. And when it comes to your wedding photography, choose someone that has similar visions to you, and always make sure you talk before the day about what kind of photos you would like and what’s important to you to capture. Even though it’s great as a photographer to be creative and have a free reign on the day, it’s also good for everyone involved to all be on the same page. I love to meet with my couples either for a coffee, or at the venue so we can have a wander round, look at the most beautiful spots and get far too excited about the amazing shots we are going to get!

You only have one chance to get it right, so get creative!
